How to Increase Your Home’s Value for Under $100 – Part 2

Last time I told you how to spruce up your home so that it makes a good first impression to potential buyers.
Today I’m going to talk about a few important things to keep in mind while you’re in the process of selling your home.
Take a look at your house from the street. Pretend that you are the buyer who happens to pass by the home up for sale. What do you see? What do you think are the points that will first capture the buyer’s interest? If you were the actual buyer, would you be tempted to get out of your car and try to have a peek of the home?
Create Curb Appeal
Place well-trimmed plants and fresh seasonal flowers to make your house more attractive.
Remember to make repairs.
Buyers are very particular with details. They can be turned off by even light scratches and dents. Make sure to repair faucets, doors, toilets, and lights.
Exterminate the living insects.
Schedule a deep cleaning. If buyers see pests around or messes, they may automatically leave without bothering to look at the rest of the house. Clean the carpets or replace them if necessary.
Remove all clutter.
Arrange things in an orderly manner so the prospective buyer will enjoy touring around to see the home’s features.
Lighten up the home.
Turn on all lights to enhance the atmosphere of the home. Let the home shine with a warm glow and a cozy feeling.
Make sure to wash the walls and apply fresh paint.
Buyers are turned off by dirty walls. They’re even more turned off if they start thinking about how they’re going to have to spend their time and their money to do what you should have done.
When selling your home, it is important to prioritize the appeal that you’re trying to create. When you’re selling your house, you only get a few moments to make that first impression.
Stay tuned. Next time I’ll talk about how to set the listing price.
